Hello. I bought and installed the wpml plugin. Everything is OK. I enter articles, but Google seems to be indexing the second language blog a little late. While the articles I add on the homepage are immediately crawled by Google, the pages I create in a second language are not crawled for a long time. Google is not crawling my website until I send a request. Is this because the pages created with the Wpml plugin appear as new sites in the eyes of Google? Keyword competition is easy. But I'm not even in the top 100. It's like a sandbox effect.

Do you have menus set to link to the foreign language pages when language is changed?

I think last time I set this up, by default my footer menu for example would link to the standard url for sub pages regardless of what language the user switched to.

so I think I set up variable menu so that links would go to the foreign language specific page, if that language was set.

That way you end up with appropriate internal linking for each language.

When I done this, I ranked for my target foreign language keywords pretty quick, although I think I did also let the site sit for a couple of months before I built links.

Thank you for your comment. Yup. There is a menu to switch to different languages in the footer section. With its icons. I can't understand what is causing this. Could it be because the article is too few? There are 15 articles in the language I created with wpml.

If you switch to different language, then check all the links in main menu and footer menu, do those links go to the URLs unique to that language?

Yes

Hmm, not sure then. Maybe it is sandbox effect like you say and you just need to give it a little more time.
Edit: Just checked back on the last multi-language SEO project that I worked on and I did wait 4 months after publishing the website, before I undertook any SEO work.

WPML in Languages section, please scroll down to "Browser language redirect" and check you are using "Always redirect visitors based on browser language" option. If so, it may be according to those settings, affecting how Google indexes your pages.

I looked at "Disable browser language redirect"

Use (enable) "Always redirect visitors based on browser language" option
When I try to activate it wpml gives me warning. He says it can affect SEO rankings.
I wonder if someone living in France searches for an article in English, will he enter the site in English? But what if the french for that article is not available?
