[Question] About website speed

Just recently every website owner started worrying about their website speed, based on the fact that it is now used as one of the ranking factors pf google. Having checked a lot of themes out there claiming 100 scores on both google page speed and Gtmetrix. what i discovered is that all these themes are only scoring high on their homepage while the score of the inner pages (post Pages ) are still low.

MY QUESTION: since the post pages are the ones that really rank on google does the low page speed affects the ranking?

Page speed is only important for the pages you're trying to rank. As you rightly noticed, there's no point having a fast homepage and slow blog posts, if you're trying to rank the blog posts.

In my experience, faster loading time does help SEO, but you've got to get all your pages fast, not just the homepage.

Guess as much a course( income school) I was following boasted of creating one of the fastest theme scoring 99 on google page speed but their post pages are scoring 50, 40

Yeah that's a typical trick used to fool beginners.

That said, if you look at the speed results for most website pages, even those from huge publishers, they will score poorly. Don't get too focussed on it - just check the speed of your direct keyword competitors and aim to be a little faster.

If you're looking for a fast WordPress theme, I recommend GeneratePress. It's very lightweight and customizable and there's a free version if necessary.

No direct correlation between speed and rankings.

But since Google 'Page Speed Update' very slow sites will be negatively impacted, the question might be, what's the threshold? - I don't know and don't care much - as mentioned by @seocrab most large publishers do have rubbish page-speed scores.

I do like a speedy landing page tho, which normally helps me on getting lower bounce rate and increased conversions.

Load time of any website is very important for ranking.

Keep in mind that a hosting server that is close to the target audience's location greatly affects speed.

You should also include code processing capabilities in the client side, so it is better to do a speed test on an old weak smartphone or a relatively weak pc.
Because if the site loads well with a weakened processing power then in a new pc or smartphone it will load even faster.

You could also test your site with different connection speeds because those will vary greatly from person to person.

So , ttfb or time to first byte is what matters , With that said a faster website does not mean a boost in the SERP however a slow website is a demotion in the SERP. Also to note look at what is ranking if the 1st page is covered with sites that are slow it will not matter for your site I hope this helps you OP.
