are views the most important factor in video rankings? or could could you be above someone with like 10 times the amount of views as you?

views and likes are mainly important. Comments also bring importance, maybe and subscriptions and shares..

From what I have seen the most important factors are engaged views, good on page factors, internal linking and external linking. In one of my main niches, I see this stupid video ranking for a ton of terms. The video is terrible, but they built the on page out perfectly with a great title and transcribed the video in the description with a bunch of keywords. Then they spammed the shit out of the video with links. What I find interesting is not the type of links they are shooting at the video (Youtube tends to have higher tolerance for spammy links), but the anchors they used. They look something like this:

Youtube.com/Naked URL (www.youtube.com) - 80% of anchors
Main Terms - 5%
Like terms, synonyms, and sentences - 15%

I'm not kidding when I say that this video is ranking in the top 5 for probably 30 of the top terms in my niche, and have been doing so for almost a month now.

Duration of all views. That's why longer videos with less views rank higher than 30second videos with many views.

does the duration of video do anything?
