I have a website, where I published a couple of articles in two languages. There are not many articles in English, and the site isn't getting a lot of traffic (was even offline for some time). I'm using Polylang for the multi-language functionality. The primary language is English.

Now, I decided to publish new articles in the secondary language only. I'm not sure yet, if I will publish articles in English or other languages in the future, so I don't want to switch the URL structure (secondary language to primary language). Instead, I want to keep it as it is (website.com and website.com/es, for example).

But, for now, the website will get the most visitors speaking the secondary language. So, I think about redirecting the homepage of the primary language (website.com) to the homepage of the secondary language (website.com/es).

Do you think, that's a good idea? Does it have any negative effects regarding SEO or link juice?
