Is it possible to pinpoint with precision where the most traffic is coming to an website? Example: i would like to know if forbes.com is getting their traffic from an website and which website is that.

You can use Alexa.com for checking traffic source of a website. If you own a website, you can use Google Analytics.

hmmm i was trying to use alexa indeed but it seems to know more i have to buy an account?

Good things cost money

If you have a specific site or two you wanna check, you can look for someone who'll do it for a few bucks.
