Lets say you make a link pyramid that involves web 2.0s containing unique articles at the top tier. Do you want to put your exact keyword that you're trying to rank in the articles? Or variations of the keyword? Do you put the exact keyword in all the articles at a 2% density? Or do you not have to mention the keyword as often as you would on your website itself?

Do you mean as anchor text or just text within the article (not linking to your site)?

The text in the article not linking

You should definitely include your keyword many times in your articles. 2% or more is good. Also include LSI keywords. The content on your articles should definitely be related to your target keyword.

This helps allot for transferring quality link juice over to your site.

yeahh! make sure you dont spam keywords unecessarily though. i dont think the google bots like those. it'll be seen as spam and your post will be downgraded

Keyword stuffing is dead so just use your main keyword as naturally as possible.
Make sure you use LSI (related) keywords too.

Anchor text variation is another good tactic since you don't want 10s or 100s identical achors pointing at your site.

When you guys say LSI keywords are you talking about the keyword rearranged like in "[location] [industry]" and switch it up to "[industry] in [location]" or do you mean related words like if you went to the adwords keyword planner and made it give you a spreadsheet of related ideas?

You can use both but the LSI term is linked to "synonyms" - that means the 2nd option.

Sorry, the keyword stuffing has been reduced due to Google Algorithm not dead, instead of stuffing the Keyword make use of keyword diversity.
Make sure you have a good vision over Keyword density and for your information Google allows 3% of Keyword density.

Yes, I do and I will put the targeted keyword in my article. And I will put the targeted keyword in my article at last 2 times.
But keyword density in my article will be depend on article's beauty. If keyword/keywords entering harm article's fluent beauty, I will avoid to add them.
