I want to buy a baby plan at hostgator and try to see if I can actually make some money online. I have read that when your site grows and gets lot of visitors per day then you would be better off moving to a dedicated server since hostgator have a tendency to shut down accounts that drain too much of their shared resources.

How hard would it be to transfer a big site to a dedicated server?

Thanks in advance

It is not difficult to move your site, FTP all your files to your PC, backup any databases and re-upload everything onto the new host - it is unlikely that you will need to go from shared hosting to dedicated server, a VPS gives more performance than shared hosting but less than a dedi - its the stepping stone between the two.

Ok thanks.

Btw, at what amount of visitors per day should I be concerned about hostgator shutting my site down?

Perhaps 10,000 a day? it all depends on your site aswell and how much content and the kind of content on there.
