Question about sub domains.

Hello, I own the domain awesomesubdomainhost.tld and I give out sub domains. (I don't own that at all )

Let's say someone gets the sub domain somespamkeyword.awesomesubdomainhost.tld and get's thousands of spammy backlinks and is filled with copy/paste content with links to other spammy sites. Will the root domain awesomesubdomainhost.tld be affected by this?

I think it does so you watch out doing this if you eant to keep your main domain in good shape.
