So how does the spamming function on youtube work? For example, if a comment of mine is spammed, will youtube let me know? Also, what if a bunch of people gang up on me and spam one of my comments (that's not spam) can I do anything about it?

what do you mean by "spamming your comment" ?

you mean flagging? you can get flagged a million times, but youtube has someone review the content before taking it down

as far as the Spam on your comments, all that means is if someone spams it enough times, it becomes invisible to keep others from seeing it. you will not be deleted for your comments.

Yes, I meant spamming comments vs flagging my video. I'm curious because I made an innocuous comment on a video, and the next time I checked back, my comment had become "invisible" ie, spammed. I'm just wondering if youtube reviews the comments and unspams what's been spammed...

(^ the word spam's starting to look off to me having used it so many times :D)

no, they do not review spammed comments, they do however review complaints. So if you said something threatening or racially offensive, they might review it and ban you, but that is unlikely. If you are just spamming websites or something like that, you will just be marked as invisible.

^ i could totally understand being spammed (ie, made invisible) if i had actually *spammed". all i said was "great video" !

ahh, well sometimes if you post "great video" on several different videos, youtube might think it is spam. being the same message.. or even a bunch of comments in such a short period of time.. its not people clicking spam, but rather youtube thinking you are spamming

or people can be an a$$ and mark your comments as spam then the comments are invisible to other visitors but they can click it to see it.
