Question about seo for images.

If an image is about an airplane is called hfghjfhgfghrt434.jpg and the alt text is '' airplane in the sky '' would that index the image ?
Or is it better to call the image airplane_in_the_sky.jpg and the alt text '' airplane in the sky '' ?


Any answer would be appreciated.

I would go with the second option rather than the first. It's always good to have a meaningful title for your image rather than having random letters and numbers
 
Name of the image should be relevant to the image and the image needs to be relevant to the content.
 
Whenever I optimise images, I always target the keyword in the title, file name, and the alternate text.
 
I guess you can go with option n. 1, since a lot of high rank google images are just numbers and letters. But if you're not mass uploading I dont see why dont put the name
 
I suggest optimizing it to help people out instead of Google's algo. All stuff must be relevant to your branding.

I've read somewhere that alt tags are a way to make blind people's internet browsing a more fun experience. Instead of just "airplane flying in the sky" the alt tag should be more descriptive like "a boeing 747 flying through a blue sky with a kid waving his hand on the camera"

Yeah, I know no one's got time for that kind of alt tag descriptions. It reminds me to ALWAYS optimize the alt tags at the least and it's sometimes fun to do especially if the pictures are in the lingerie niche. heheh
 
It would be good to give meaningful title hence it is best to go with second one.
