Hey, I want to buy a domain, but it is parked and too expensive. I have the option of getting "my-freakin-domain" instead of "myfreakindomain" and I know it is better for seo without the dashes, but is it really the end of the world? Will google not give me a good rank for my keywords because of the dashes? Or is that just phooey?

get that with dashes if orignal is just parked domain .. with proper seo .. you are goood to go

It gives you a little advantage, but I agree, adding something to the end or something, or if you can add a letter in the middle to make it plural then awesome.

Having hyphens in your domain is just fine. Your SEO needs to be top notch(it should be anyway). No duplicate content, no spun content posted on the website, good diverse links spread out in a casual fashion, etc and you're good to go, man.

I have a few websites that have hyphenated domains and they're ranking perfectly. Some of them are even ranking quite a bit better than the same domain without the hyphens. The domain name only plays a small role in the overall SEO picture.
WOW. I wasn't expecting so many speedy responses! thanks for the tips guys. I really like this domain because it is an exact keyword match for the main keyword I want to rank for, so with good content, and a domain that is slightly different from the keyword should be ok seo-wise I guess.
