Question about redirects and free tip for indexing sites fast.

Hi guys,
I wanted to get input from smart SEO guys around here. The story is like this. I have a high authority site in multiple niches, I decided to separate it into smaller sites.
the situation is like this (fake example)

I have a big pet site. I opened a new domain for pet toys. redirected all pages in that category to the new site.

I found a pet toy domain with 60 backlinks, and many of its backlinks include the term pet toys. The site that was in the domain is really similar to my new site.

What would you do?

1) just redirect all pages that have links and the home to the new sites. (lazy option may be ineffective)
2) build basic sites with the same urls and AI content wait for a few weeks then redirect after it is all indexed again.
3) just build a very good site to place a homepage link into in the domain and build links to it, maybe try to rank it.

What would you do?

Fee indexing tip: I have been struggling to index pages on new sites lately. yesterday I did this migration and placed the redirects. I got all pages indexed on the same day.
So adding the pages first in running a trusted site and then redirecting, may be a great way to start a site fast and get it indexed.

I would go with #3, because I like to have a wide range of web real estate. I'm not sure I would go down the route you're going with your main site however. I'd keep the main authority site as it is, and build out smaller sites with new content instead of redirecting. Spreads the risk, and having multiple entries in the top 10 is better than having one

I, personally, wouldn't split one authority site into many niche sites.
I'd do the opposite.
Why on earth would I break up my authority site into many babies???

well, its because the site is too generalized. every niche is this site is quite a big niche and totally worth tackling separately

thanks for the advice, new site will be very high quality. I rather put all my energy into one and do it really well than many half-assed websites, but its a matter of personal preference. I see what you mean.
