Question about profile links . . . .

once i add a link to my profile, do i need to make a forum post? or can i just sign up to a forum, wait three days, and then add the link?

No, you don't need to add a post.

In fact, it's recommended that you don't as you don't want to draw attention to your profile.

If you really going to contribute in the forum then you can make a forum post after adding links.But you just want to create a profile and add links dont make a post there it will lead to removal of your account.

Yes, this is also important.

After you create a profile you need to log out and see if you can view your profile when you're not logged in.

If you can't, then it's not worth it.

it's easy to check to see if your profile is visible before you even waste time creating one. Just go to the forum and click on someone's user name and see what you can see. It will tell you if you have to be logged in. If so, just skip it and move on.

I also don't wait 3 days to drop my links. I've found that most stick without waiting and doing it twice takes twice as long vs doing it once and doing twice as many and only loosing 1-2.

After you do this for a while you'll creat a list of forums that stick and you can keep reusing it.
