Question about Pinterest Amazon Methods.

Hi All,

So I have a dedicated .com website/blog tackling beauty products. The theme is great, and each post is a small review that's well wrote and the layout is good.

I have two Pinterest accounts with 800 followers and 600 followers. I also have a Tumblr with 1,500 followers.

Traffic is pretty low as I guess the CTR from the two social sites is low. Getting about 20 visitors a day with roughly 80 pageviews - so they are staying on the site.

I've had 0 click throughs to Amazon and not only this, but after integrating AdSense over a week ago I'm still yet to make even $0.01 from this site.

I suppose my question is what am I missing here? Everyone and their Mom seems to be getting a lot more traffic in these Women related niches and are seeing profits.

Especially since 90% of my traffic comes from Tumblr and not Pinterest I'd like to know what I'm doing wrong!

Any tips?

I agree w/ seocompanymail. Get more followers and join groupboards of similar niche.

But there's one more thing to consider in similar niche. I've been noticing an IM'er who seems to have an endless roster of botted accounts. Those accounts are all pretty much the same except for the name and bio. But number of boards, name of boards, and product pins are closely similar. No groupboards so there's much less chances of getting reported for spam. Each account has a lot of pins (10K+) and has a lot of followers (7K+). Been tracking these accounts for awhile since they were at 6K pins. They're not hard to miss if you've been checking your /followers.

He is using domain redirects to send clicks to vendors' site and not going through his own landing page. I'm guessing that through sheer numbers, his clicks are through the roof.

I'm in the food niche now monetizing through adsense and cpa, but I'm laying groundworks to also tackle Amazon and other buying-based methods. I think mass redirect is the way to go.

So he's basically creating a .htaccess 301 or 302 re-direct for a specific url for each product on his domain, straight to the vendor?

What about cloaking? Does this still work? Although, I guess it's essentially the same right?

You should try to get more followers. A few thousand maybe?

And, you shouldn't place ads on obvious 'reserved for advertisement' places because,
internet surfers are constantly training themselves to ignore these ad spots, most of the time, all they see is blur.
Did tried optimizing your ad placements by your in-page analytics (click heat maps) report in google analytics?

While Pinterest and tumblr are a good traffic sources, that doesn't mean you should stop using other traffic
methods like seo, social, paid advertising (PPC ,CPM ,PPV) etc.

I am only saying this because you said 90% of your traffic comes from these pinterest and tumblr which means,
you're getting 10% traffic from all other sources = you're ignoring all other traffic methods.

You should never depend on just one or two traffic methods or sources especially if they are not paid.

Seems like it. I see no other way. You click on domain.com/product then you end up on vendor.com/product.

If you mean shorteners, that's not being used though I read somewhere that those still work.

Just pin consistently and keep an eye on your /followers. You'll pick up on these accounts. I know because almost any sampling of 25-50 followers in series for my bots are almost 50% from his bots e.g. his bots are following my bots.
