Question about penalties

So I`ve ranked a website, pretty fast, then I`ve been hit with neg seo.. now, my site is not sandboxed, not deindexed, it shows when typing site:website and website simple on google, but when checking serps for the main keyword it's on page 4 and with a different page from the homepage.. now, the neg seo effect is passing and the rankings start to revive slowly, but I still see subpages ranking, not the main page, I`m losing over 2k backlinks on a daily basis. Will the main page start to rank again, seeing that it`s an algo penalty only ? Or is the website doomed ?

If you dropped to the 4th page and not outta the SERPs completely, I doubt it's any penalty to be concerned about. Just keep building links to the page you are trying to rank and make sure your anchor text portfolio is diverse.

And i think in your case it is just a temp issue and probably within couple of weeks your ranks may come back

how'd you say you have been hit with neg seo? Also, if any other page from your domain showing on serp for "home page" keywords, then just ignore it and keep target your homepage. Because, that page might already ranked on 4th page. It surely a dance. Keep targeting the home page.

Well I`ve been blasted with around 100K spammy backlinks on guestbooks and blog comments.. The website had strong profile so it actually held on pretty well to the 1st half of the blast
