QUestion about PBN setup

When you are setting up your PBN site do you copy the site from way back time machine, or do you set up a new site?

The way I see it if you set up from way back time machine then its more likely to preserve existing inbound backlinks, but its not going to be as relevent to the links and content you want to add to the site so that would be bad for a manual review?

I am just wondering what others are doing and what is considered safest.

Even writing this I am thinking second option is better because on the surface the site will look more natural if its all about the same topic / niche. BUT it must mean that gradually the backlinks pointing to the site will be removed as people realise the content they are linking to is no longer there??

Or am i thinking too much in to it?

You can do either.
But if you decide to copy or you need to make a relevant article.
For example if your site is about losing weight.
And the pbn is about making money or living on a budget.

You do a pbn post like lose weight without breaking the bank.
It's relevant to both
 
I think copying the site would be better also because then the anchor text would make sense.
Make sure to use copy scape to check the content.

I'm in the midst of doing his right now.
 
I have a mixture of them both, a site from way back machine looks pretty obvious to be a pbn imo though.
 
For example I have a site that was a French blog of some sort. Maybe it's not the best domain for a pbn but it has good metrics.

I think it will look crap if I put it back up as a French site and then a English article with a link out, so I'm thinking just to set up as a new English blog that looks legit.

I have another one that was some sort of portal out to other few sites, again I think there is no way to make that look legit other than building a brand new site on it.

Maybe I should be looking for more generic domains so it wouldn't be an issue?

If you can't make the old site work, always rebuild it. You want these to look natural
 
You could do both, doesnt make much of a difference so long as you have unique content.
 
Will you be using your pbns for multiple sites? If you plan on using the pbns for one site only, I've had pretty decent success with rebuilding the old site from wayback machine and placing a single link subtly anywhere on the homepage (ie. sidebar).
 
I personally put related content but fresh content. Check what type of site it was and then put same type of content on it. This way you can build backlinks slowly without anyone sensing something fishy.

If you try changing the whole structure, then I personally feel it acts as a new website.
 
According to me, I can setup a new website and it will relevant to same niche is good to have the new content.
 
I have seen few guys setting up english site on earlier domain which were having different language.
It is doing well for them :)

You can do both, but make sure to check it on Plagiarism checker or Copyscape. I think what’s important is the quality of the backlinks regardless of its relevancy.
 
I always put a new content on my PBN. it doesn't matter if it's non related niche. It's the backlinks that matters. Been doing this for years and the results are great.
 
Well, so far, I have revamped the sites and changed the design a bit to make it seem more updated and recent. I have retained some of the old content and internal links. But the design looks obsolete in most cases, for ex, if its a 10 year old domain.
 
I do both of the things. If i feel i can cleverly sneak in a link to my money site so that it blends in the content extracted from archive, i rebuild it like its old version.Its looks more legit and most of all provides more diversity to my PBN setup.

If you work cleverly you can always camouflage a link into any kind of content. Only thing that lacks is relevancy to the content of your money site, i can compromise with that as long as the link is powerful enough to boost my rankings.

In cases where i find the archive is not complete or has broken images and stuff, i take the wordress, joomla, drupal path.

Also, its rare that you lose links due to some webmasters finding out they are not linking to the same content as they previously were unless some competitior approcahes them telling the links is obsolete and asks your links to be replaces with his own.
