Question about local SEO

Hi guys,

I have a new client who doesn't wish to make his address public (due to it being his home address, also). He has a GMB already in place, where he has hidden his address and simply put down service areas for the areas he serves locally.

Now, it is to my understanding that NAP has to be consistent throughout all citations (and the site) being built, my question is: Is it still possible to rank locally even without stating a physical address?

Yes is it still a chance to rank.
Optimize other GMB factor well and also add area or city in the description.
Other tips you can chance address with only area and city details after verification is done.

Just input his keywords in the gmb review most likely it’ll work

It is possible for sure, but how will you build citations for the business? Your client will be at a major disadvantage if the other businesses have done even the most basic citation building.

Yes as google maps knows the address and location (even though it does not show), therefore they know where to show this GMB.

Also you can make citations to the address, as this does not matter really. Address remains hidden in google maps, but it does not mean you can't do citations. As (nearly) no one will check the address from citations.

Yes, it should still work, but it´s not recommended. Just optimize the GMB description and do some on-page optimization for the local KW´s.
But really it´s better for him to just build citations like everyone else. Still his adress will be or is already known online, so it makes no difference

Yeah I was thinking that, most people care more for the GMB and don't really care much for digging around the citation sites.
