Question about link submission directories!

Hi,
I have just started to learn about Link Building.
Is it okay to submit URLs of a money site to link directories like sitejot and bookmark4you to get backlinks?
I have seen some Amazon sites which gets most of their backlinks from directiores like this and they are ranking in first page for KWs with 500-700 monthly searches.

sometimes the competition linked to directories might have linked to them long time ago when directory linking was a real important backlink building activity... It still works but check the spam score of the directory first by moz bar if it shows the directory is of real good quality then you are good to go. But in competitive niche buidling only directory links wont be enough anymore.

Those directories are slowly being phased out man, they are kind of old school. I'd stick with creating quality content and submitting to sites like Reddit, you can also look into guest posting.

Personally I think they are junk and not worth the effort...

Having a few directory links in your link profile is okay. If majority of your links come from sources like link, obviously it is not good. Try to mix.
