Question about legality of streaming sites

Completely hypothetical, but how illegal is it to run a site with new dvd rips (basically copyrighted material) from various torrent sites?

What are the consequences? I see a ton of video sites with new shows, but how are they not reported immediately?

As illegal as it can get. I guess most sites are just hosted overseas with companies that shit on DMCA requests.

i suppose you just get your site closed down and if you are bad enuff goto jail loads of research i suppose would have to research it well. Over in the uk they are blocking the torrent sites its just a cat a mouse game.

Some people load all of their videos in a cloud storage, share to family and friends.
