Hi, so I found this keyword and believe it is pretty easy to rank because of the fact that it has little to no backlinks to the ranking page. However, I am a little worried to purchase the domain (it is an emd) because all of them are authority domains and most of them have the keyword in title and their content.

Do you think this would be easy to rank for with some minimal linking? Also, all of the ranking pages are selling the keyword, Best Buy and Walmart are two of the ranking pages.

    Thanks! :)

From the looks of it, should be easy.

    I agree, it is easy!

Plus, you'll have a +1 point if you have an EMD.

I'm guessing the sites are the likes Amazon, About, eHow etc.

This is a no go Capitan.

If this is the competition matrix for the exact phrase you are targeting, it is a loser.

You will notice that the keyword phrase has many of the top ten results that are fully optimized for this word, and the domain ages are very high. These domains have incredible Authority. Also notice that many have thousands of referring domains, and millions of links.

Dump this or delve deeper into it and see what long tails you can find.

Oh Nos, domain age is high, let's pack it in! They barely have links to them.
With a EMD, it shouldn't be too hard.
Stop giving bad advice if you don't know what you're talking about.

Hmmmm... From what I've been reading, the page matters more than the domain. What I mean by this is that the domain can be aged, have authority, and tens of thousands of backlinks, but you can still beat it out in a keyword if you optimize your page for it and have backlinks with the keyword in it.

But I also think that you have a good point since all of the websites ranking for this keyword are without a doubt authorities.

I guess I'll have to look at it a little more...

    Thanks for the replies!

You are seeing the BLD - Backlinks to Domain not BLP - Backlinks to Page.

    Thanks for the advice!

I purchased the domain cause I heard that the prices are getting jacked up soon and didn't want to pay more.

    Hope it works out!

The competition for the keyword is low. But post Google Panda, we can't really rely on off page seo anymore. Most of the off page seo is spam, and nobody likes spam. Onpage SEO factors should always be optimized first, then do whatever offpage promotion is necessary.

NO, I am looking at the authority of the domains that are in the top 10 spots and the fact that the matrix has very few green squares. I am looking at the number of referring domains and the fact that the youngest domain is 7 years old, and most of the sites are fully optimized for that keyword.

Good luck, but I bet unless the OP is a superstar he cannot pull this one out.

And if you think simply having more backlinks to the page will overpower all the link juice from millions of incoming links and thousands of referring domains to the site on a 15 year old global authority domain, remind me not to go into business with you.

3rd one is definately amazon :)

1.Highly optimised Onpage seo with very low cache
    2. Domain age for all the results is over 7 years
    3. Index count -too high
    4. Most of the sites are authority
    5. Most of them listed in Dmoz and yahoo
    6. did you checked the title competition and url competition , whats the ratio Value of SEOTC

i never gave priority to EMD , i have better results with an aged domain with some previous backlinks and dmoz listing

    Try one thing
one site with emd and other with an aged domain , the second one will have a better chance of getting into page one and even if u get to page 1 , it will be quite impossible to displace the top 3 results

Sure. Don't do business with me if you don't like.

And maybe read what I said in my first post:

Don't tell me you have never seen pages outranking Amazon with pretty decent on-page and off-page SEO. If you have not, PM me, I'll show you.

You're seeing at just 2 factors: domain age, and backlinks to domain. Almost all sites have great on-page SEO, but very weak off-site SEO to the particular page we are talking of.

Even newbies can rank buddy. If a noob has $$, outsourcing is the best option.

Based just on the OP's competition matrix, I pretty much agree with you. It's much harder to rank against established, well-optimized pages on high authority sites.

I'd suggest going after another niche/keyword, especially if you want to do minimal link-building.

Easy, good thing you bought the domain.

Look at the BLP column over everything else, can't go wrong.

wat I'd do is to run the keyword tru traffic travis to give me an idea of the relative strength of the top ten and that will give me a clue of how to attack the Niiche. Its cool you have an EMD...do go for it or you'll never know bro!
