Is it okay to use images taken from television shows, comics and movies and include them in blog posts?
For example, if I have a blog post about the top 10 greatest comic book characters of all time, would it be okay to include official images (taken from comic books) of the characters in my blog post? This is also assuming that I'd be monetizing my blog, meaning the usage of these images would probably fall under commercial use.
Oftentimes, images from stock sites just don't work well with these types of posts, so I'd prefer to use official pictures if I can legally do so.
I notice that some of the bigger sites use official images, but I'd assume they're either getting the permission of the copyright holders to do so, or the copyright holders look at it as free marketing and don't mind.
Just wanted to get a few opinions, especially from those of you that have experience with this issue. Thanks.
