Question about hosting

Is the disk space of hosting is where all files videos and all documents hosted right? Let's say i have 80 gb disk space and i want to upload on my website 5.000 videos and each one is 100mb, it's total 500gb, that means it's not enough. How the hell porn sites have 100k videos on their websites? I can't find hosting with more than 320gb disk space.

So their videos not hosted on the same hosting?

They have much larger storage and thanks to cloud you can store data in much larger quantities and without much hassle. Cloud is basically you data is stored on mulitple machine at different locations.

That's the ideal way to do it, and should be done like that yes!

My dedicated servers from my host are 2TB HDD mirrored (so 4TB total) and my site is hosted up front on a 256GB SSD. They also have upgradable 6TB and 10TB mirrored that can be added or swapped as needed. The hosts exist. Look a bit deeper.

My videos are <1GB each and run about 20min. Some are HD some are a bit compressed. Running less than or equal to 10Mb bit rate.

I can fit about 2000 videos.

This is not really an optimum strategy. It's possible to compress the videos to an even smaller size, only offer 720 resolution, or simply dont worry about quality at all and compress it to hell.

Lots of videos these companies have are only a few minutes long. Like amateur cell phone videos. They dont take up much space. Even the professional videos are cut to about 10/12 min each.

On top of this, obviously, there are larger storage drives available when you have a larger budget.

They can do it because they have more resources available to them, like everyone has mentioned Cloud Storage

they host videos on seperate server/s, hosting everything on one would be just wrong (speaking from experience).

seperate storage server is a must in such case

also sites like PH uses compression, that makes a big difference too

Host your video on cloud, there are many cheaper options now a days.
