Is it okay to post links to a site containing copyrighted contents? I wont be posting the content my self.
Is there a way around it? My country is US and my state is NY.
Should i use an oversea hosting account?
Thanks in advance.

Whether you can do that varies from host to host. For example, our company does not care about it.
Either way, an offshore hosting account would be the best choice.

linking to a website? or linking to an actual source like an image? depends how you link...

i don't see a problem if its an external link to a site... though question remains is whether its worth it? ;)

Cool thanks for info.

It's a gray area. However, you are KNOWINGLY posting links to websites with copyrighted content. I believe that is enough to hold you liable for at least taking part in sharing the content.

Example: Richard O'Dwyer case ...his website hosted LINKS to 3rd party sites where the content was hosted. What happened? It got taken down and they tried to prosecute him.

Not exactly sure what copyrighted content you want to share. Are we talking warez?

Edit: Should add - probably not a good idea to take legal advice from strangers on a public forum.
