Question about Holokote technology.

Magicard has a line of ID Printers that have a feature called Holokote, which based on my reading is some type of laser etched feature that etches just a thin layer off the top of a card just enough so that when light hits it at different angles, it'll have somewhat of a hologram effect.

Have any of you have any experience with this? And wondering if the feature can be mod/hacked to be able to output other designs (for example, medical related images for medical personnel or pet related for dog groomers or dog sitters etc)
