So let's say I'm using Binance to trade. I buy $20 and get x amount of ETH.

The next day the value of RTH goes down hard.

Do I lose my ETH or I will keep the same ammount in my wallet and all I have to do is wait until it goes back up?

You keep the same amount of ETH, just the value is lower. It's just like any share etc

The markets are 24 * 7 so expect constant change.

you have 20$

suppose you bought 1 eth with 20$

and next day eth price goest down to 2$

so in usd, you lost 18$ if you withdrawal... if not, then you still have 1 eth which you purchase,
so just HODL and when price goes back to 40$ you can withdrawal and gain 20$ profit from it :D

Thanks this clears it up. I was thinking of just buying like $20 in each major altcoin and just hodl and sell when the price goes up. Do you guys think this is a good strategy? Are the fees low enough to allow me to make some decent profit like this? Do you have better suggestions?

If you budget is low then better to do trade...
just choose any coin which fluctuate 5-10% per day, then buy in dip and sale after 5-6% profit.

and in case of if that coin goes more dip then purchase value, then just hodl, some day that will come back on profit value....

The amount you will be holding will always be the same that you got at the time of purchase.
