I have a site where each page goes for a different k/w, so I was wondering if guest posting will raise the SERPs across the board?

For example if the guest post only links to the home page but not the inner pages with the article on then can it still improve the SERPs?

I was considering getting a tool like licorne but from what ive been reading you need to be really meticulous with your tier 1's so it doesn't even seem economical.

If your guest post is directed back towards your homepage (not the page you necessarily want to rank), by virtue of the site's architecture, you will experience some benefit to all pages. However, unless the site linking back to you has a solid DA/PA/PR, it wouldn't have too much sway on the serp's. In my experience, it would be better to get the link back to a specfiic and related page to help boost rankings faster.

    Hi,
After Panda and Penguin update, Guest posting become a nightmare if it is not posted in the correct niche and reputed high ranked site.Quality of content also matters in this context.

build links to stuff you can later have removed in case of a penalty.

can you remove your homepage in case of a penalty ?!
well yeah if your homepage is 'yourdomain.com/home' and all your hrefs point to that, then your domain is safe.

if not point any kind of backlink, even 90% white hat links coming from WIKIPEDIA, to related articles on your site.
In case Google has its britches in a twist one day and decides you should get a penalty, the action won't be onto your entire site, but onto some of your content/pages/posts which can easily be removed.

Yes after recent updates Matt Cutts fight extremely against guest posting spammers. If you post quality and fresh content on quality topical websites with the homepage it will really benefit your serp rankings. Anyway it helps me with my site. Avoid guest posting on low quality sites.

Along with keywords, content should be the quality one. Only then SERPs would enhance.
