Update took place on 19 October, 2022. Most sites got hit around 19-21 October. But my site lost the traffic on 27 October. Do you think this is due spam update or something else? because it is almost 8 days since the date of update. I think it is too late. isn't it?

My story in short:

1. I had domain A (Aged 1+Years)
2. On Sep 2022, I created DOMAIN B. and used double 301 redirects.
3. within few days the new domain was rapidly indexing and getting good traffic. ( From Sep until 27 October)
4. During the Spam update period. My Original domain (Domain A) Lost a lot of backlinks. ( From 6.6K Backlinks to 1.6K Backlinks)
5. So domain A after losing such big amount of backlinks -- it is not passing any SEO authority to domain B anymore.
6. I deleted the 301 redirects cause i think it is useless.

So I think the decline in traffic may be due to lose of backlinks NOT spam update. I am still ranking in first position for some keywords.

I hear from people who got hit that in GSC they don't see any indexed pages. but it is not the case in my site.

That my analysis. Do you think my issue is related to lost backlinks or spam update?

Many websites got hit and some recovered on 27-29 October. The general consensus is that this was an unannounced update tied to the Spam Update.

On top of that, you might have damaged your site with deleting those 301 redirects. Obviously 1 month is not enough for a site move or authority transfer. As for you losing your links, probably Google deindexed many of those spam websites that were linking to you. I doubt those links were helpful anyway, but who knows.
