It is more than "modify the content", you will need to make some quality content.
You will not bounce right back, from sites I have seen that had this happen, it took awhile to recover.

Easiest way to do it is disavow all the crappy links and do a resubmission.
It's not an overnight process, you'll be looking at a good few weeks, maybe even a month or two before you get back in the index. The important thing to know is it can be done - I've gotten a few sites back ranking after being pinged for crap links.
My advice would be to spend that few months of downtime building a new website. Go easier on the spam and hopefully, you'll end up with a cleaned up site back in the index plus a whole new site ranking too.
If this is your only website, treat the v&nning as a wake up call. You need to diversify your sites, offers and networks you sell for.
My 2 cents anyway.

Take my suggestion. Completely redesign your website, make it look more professional. Structure your content well, add relevant images, relevant links, change where it needs to change.
Make sure your website looks more professional than before and content is structured and written well.

Google hates user generated content, it's due to the fact that most user-generated content is low in quality. The quality is continuously measured, which again has an impact on the search results. It is also important to observe the keyword density and try as much to avoid too much keyword repetition.

CHeck all the contents first and then replace all with very high quality content and then be patient,your website will be ranked.
