My web mail account got compromised - at least, my account was used to send about six spun versions of the same one-line spam, with a bare link, to everyone in my contact list.

What I'm wondering is, what's the actual point of doing that?? I mean, is the idea really to just send that piece of spam, which was so obvious that even my grannie would recognize it as spam, to all the addresses in my contact list? Or is there some other motive that I'm just too dumb to get? It seems impossible that anyone would bother hacking into an account to send out something like that.

Dude, some hacker just learn and do hacking for fun. So its natural that they would send a spam to your account for making fun.

You have to be careful about those spams.

I would be more concerned about having a keylogger installed on my computer.
