Question about Flippa site and non-competes

I have been researching a Clickbank site for sale on Flippa, bikinibodyguidereview . com. The seller is stating that they will sign a non-compete for fitness industry. I found topworkoutprograms . com , which has remarkably similar copy on at least a couple of posts.

I inquired about it via comments and he did not deny ownership, and said the non compete is for keywords. The site actually does compete for the same keywords, at least some pages do.

My question is how en-forcible is a non-compete agreement from a practical standpoint? I'm new to IM and am wondering if someone can easily still compete and delete/edit backlinks post sale, or other such actions.

Unless you are willing to legal action then it is pretty meaningless. If the seller is using fake details to sell then it may be nearly impossible to track him down.
Sounds like the site for sale is designed to rip off noobs. He probably churns out the same similar sites each month.

Even if you're willing to take the seller to the court (and the price of the site justifies it), depending on the jurisdiction it can still turn out to be non-enforcible as non competes often are. It's also incredibly easy to break one 'legally' (e.g. have someone else legally own the competing business, or simply hide its ownership), and last but not least due to the international nature of most website purchases it can get VERY expensive to pursue someone.

A contract means nothing unless you're willing to enforce it. Often times it's a good initial detterent but that's it.
