Question about Fail videos, top 10, ect

Hello,

There are so many channels with millions of views that have nothing original that they post. It's all compilations of other internet videos, or like WatchMojo, compilations of music videos and movies. Also, how are they not getting taken down for posting music videos and movies??

They have hundreds of videos, so I know they are getting money somehow...

So how are these channels who post nothing but other people's content making money off it?

Once you make it into a montage, is it now a new work that you can claim as your own?

Are they just taking a chance that no one will come after them for the money or put in a copyright claim?

Why are they allowed to post music from music videos that Youtube will usually flag automatically?

i seen some of it and maybe its fine for youtube as for the original owner of the vids maybe its also fine from them cause some are only clips from long videos being cut and jumbled with any other video

95% of it is because the original owners of the videos don't care, 5% because they know that those videos they are stealing from are money makers. You can get a copyright strike for just about anything these days, but I'm sure that some of these channels rarely get one, if at all.

I know at least one channel that got in to copyright trouble. They post list videos on YT - top 15 most haunted places in US etc. Ever since this trouble, they have been dormant with no new uploads so I believe they shut down.

Its just a matter of chance and luck before you are forced to shut down your channel.

JukinVideo or FailArmy are actually buying videos and rights from original makers. There is one fail with "parkour" jump from boat to boat which made my friend from my country, they paid him ~130$ for video and then they add that into their show aka compilation + separated video as they usually do. Rest of the people are usually just stealing videos. I used to make one of these back in 2007 on very first acc and I remember that I got 100k views on funny compilation as joke.

It is fair use (at least in WatchMojo case).
