Question about expired domains....

Hello! I have a couple of questions about PBN and Expired Domains...

1. Can the domain registration of the expired domain be done from the same Godaddy account where the money site is registered, (With WOIS Enabled)?

2. When rebuilding the website, should it be rebuilt with the latest image from archive.org?


I'm a little newbie with this and i'm confused, thanks for answering!

1) Technically you can use the same account if you keep the WHOIS privacy enabled. It would however be a much much better idea to use a different registrar, and spread you PBN domains across several different registrars. It would be even better if you don't use GoDaddy for any of your domains at all, they are fucking pieces of shit.

2) The thing that matters is to keep the context the same. You can use whatever images/content. If the domain was a website about fishing in china, then you have to build a fishing in china website on it and recreate the pages of the domain. The new pages can have whatever content as long as the "search intent" or "context" of the page remains the same.

1) Remember there is a period before you can register an expred domain (if i remember correctly its 60 days.
2) No , its all about the links going to the actual domain

1. You can. But since it is an expired domain, I suggest you use a different registrar. There are many registrars out there. I even used local hosting companies where usually also offer domain registration.

2. You can do that, but I usually build the PBN with topics related to my money site.

1. Yes, not an issue. If you're building a massive PBN, then it's advisable to diversify the registrars.

1. Yup you can do unless you're going to use the expired domain for PBN purpose.

2. Definitely not. Recover only those pages (rewritten content) which are highly relevant to your planned niche so you can easily do internal linking—otherwise 301 those pages (having referring domains) to your homepage via htaccess file.

My concern with using the scraped website for an expired domain would be getting sued to oblivion for using copyright from another company's IP, even if it's defunct that would be terrifying and extremely costly. What are your guys' thoughts on that? Is it risky or am I just being paranoid?

It's rare for that to happen. If you're worried though, there are ways around it. First of all go to uspto.gov and see if there is a trademark. If it's expired or live, it just tells you more about the company that it was legit and could possibly come after you. If not, then you're good - never heard of a blog owner or a small time company chasing someone for a domain they gave up on.

Now if you see a trademark registered, then you know it was a business with some backing and if they really want to, they could come after you. In that case, you can just adjust the use case. Pivot into a related niche where the relevancy of the domain would still matter, however you wouldn't be violating anything since your business is not what their business used to be. You're not copying them. There are several companies with similar names in the market doing related or total different things. Just don't use any of their content and they can't do shit. It also helps if you are in another country, which makes going after you not worth it at all.

Just keep in mind that search engines also own domain registrars and they may know who the domains belong to.

I wouldn't use GD for this TBH.
