Hey guys, some questions for anyone experienced in e-commerce.

Is shopify dropshipping still considered a strong side hustle in 2023? Is it too over-saturated? Can one start a store with small investment and actually scale it up in the current market conditions?

If not, what is the best form of e-commerce today?

Thanks

I think it's not about platform , it's about the right products and traffic.

I agree. I just used shopify as an example since its very popular for online shop building, but I'm inclined to believe that anything is possible as long as you can pick the right product and you know how to market it properly. As long as people shop online, there should be an opportunity right? On the other hand, Ive heard from many places that dropshipping is dead/too saturated to succeed in these days.

It is kinda saturated for the people that don't thinlk outside the box. For example in my country what i see working is local dropshipping, you basically focus on selling products in your country only and not worldwide. If you have money u can spend it on IG ads or google ads to bring traffic to your site.
Good luck :)

If you have a small budget then go towards Wordpress and draft up your own site. Also, more money needs to be spent testing ads and once you're able to optimise your ad targeting to your products then you're golden.

What's the $$ amount you are planning to invest? This is quite subjective and is important to know whether dropshipping via traditional channels (Facebook ads, etc) is worth going after with that budget.

I see, thank you for the advice!

My budget is quite flexible, I'd be willing to commit between $500-$1000 to start. What is the opposite of the traditional channel you mentioned?

I've been doing e-commerce for years now and I am satisfied with the results so far.

That's great to hear! In your opinion, should a beginner like me focus on a one-product store or a niche store? And in terms of ads, do you have a preferred type of funnel to direct traffic to your store? Thanks

I have a store with 300+ products on Amazon - The traffic is there - I just need to handle the inventory and deliver the goods.
