Question about drop shipping...

I hope I articulate this in a clear manner.

Let's say you have a website, and want to sell different types of products. You work via the drop shipping method.

Wouldn't all your products need to be under one supplier then?

If a customer creates a cart, with multiple items from different suppliers, there's no way to get it in a single package delivered to the customer.

For example, on Aliexpress, you can't checkout with a cart from multiple suppliers. It's one package per supplier.

So if a customer orders multiple items that are from different suppliers, they would have to receive multiple packages. Which obviously isn't viable.

What is the way around this? Would my store have to only work under one supplier?

Why wouldn't it be viable? I would just fulfill the orders and just let them know that they ship seperately.

You will have a little note under the shipping that all of the items will be shipped separately ( exception if you order the same item with bigger quantity ).


....something like that, and they will don't care usually.

Its better to have it like in little font under the shipping options or somewhere else then to not have it. So if some costumer complains, you can tell them that it was mentioned in the shipping tab, etc. and they will cool down....probably.

There are hundreds of excuses you can make up for something like this. I would use something along the lines of "we hold stock and ship from different areas of the country, unfortunately item X wasn't in stock in location A so we had to ship separately from location B."

You dont need to make excuses. Just tell them it might comes from different providers. Your price will include the provider shipping and it will be transparent from them. really don't worry. all they want is their product to arrive at some point.

Some quite large mail order companies here in the UK deliver goods separately due to items being delivered from multiple suppliers.

It would take a very picky buyer to be concerned with this, so long as they get their order they are not usually bothered.

Just thought it may look a bit unprofessional and all, I've never really seen it done.
