Question about bluetooth spamming

I've never used bluetooth... Does the phone have to handshake with whatever you're sending from? If not you could just broadcast all over hell from some rooftop with an amplified signal and you'd be set

If you need to be able to receive from the devices in order to initiate a transfer, how far can those bluetooth devices transmit? A few hundred feet with no obstacles?

Is it enough range that you could walk around a baseball game and get a whole section all the way up and down? Like walk it a section at a time, stop and watch the game, move on to the next section, etc

I bet that guys living in apartments over traffic jams with sensitive antennas could have alot of fun !!

As an aside, why in the HELL would people be trying to program phones to do this? Phones have sh*tty little antennas and transmit something like 200mw or some silly sh*t.... isn't that pretty stupid??

Your average device is gonna get you about 33 ft. and when connecting to something you need to pairing key... Not sure about hacking w/ bluetooth though but it seems like it's not exactly meant for the large scale.

Bluetooth seems useless, then
If you could get around the god damned pairing key thing and just blast cities with messages, that'd be money!!
 
I'm not the person to really ask about this sort of thing though because I haven't ever really used any of the bluetooth features on any of the devices I've owned that were capable. I know that when you even enable the feature on something like your phone, it apparently drains your battery pretty hard because the phone has to constantly use it's power to search for information about devices etc... I think for that reason not all people have bluetooth on their phones enabled.

I also have no idea about the programs and devices that use bluetooth. There might even be plenty of devices that don't necessarily require pairing to be able to receive messages or anything but even with that, you'd still run into issues with the limited range.

Seems like the only way blasting messages could work is if you are located within 30 feet of an area that has a high volume of traffic. It may be possible to put something together that would accomplish what your getting at but I really don't see the amount of effort being worth it.

If pairing wasn't necessary, I could do a whole city, no problem.. I've put linears together before, back in the day, for cb radios.... would just have to find out what frequency range the amplifier needed to be built for, set up and antenna, and do it FAST and get out before the FCC and everything even started looking for you.
