Question about Backlinks.

So I've learnt recently that if if you have backlinks let's say 50 backlinks and you started the website not long ago you most likely with get an hammer from google because of the link velocity so you need traffic first and only then when the ratio makes sense you can post some backlinks..
Is that correct? and how do I drive the traffic at the first place ?

Quality of your links matter. If you have 50 links all from editorials, prestigious groups, etc. You'll be fine.

You can send a brand new website 30,000 bad links and not get a penalty. These links won't do jack for your rankings. Though, sometimes you can get a penalty with a small quantity of bad links. That's usually when someone reports you, though.
