Question about bachelor degree

Hi guys,

i would love to know how are the university/college test regulations in your country for bachelor/master degrees.

Where i live, we had to do around 6-7 tests per semester and you have the chance to repeat the tests 2x, after that you got not another chance.

How is it regulated in your country/college/university, how often can you fail in one test before you get kicked out ?

Are we talking per course or all courses during each semester/quarter?
This would make a difference in how many tests you have to take and your concentration (major) will influence this number as well.

Iam talking about single tests (i.e. multiple choice or open) each semester, how often can you fail a test/repeat before you get removed from the register of students ?

there are no mandatory tests its all up to the school. as long as its accredited then can do whatever they want.

Yeah but what happens on average, what was the max test repeat you heard before someone had to leave the university/college ?

Here in germany the regulations are everywhere similar or almost the same, you got 2 x more chances for each test, these 2x repeats maximum for 3 tests in all modules and you have on average 6-7 tests per semester, before you have to leave university and cant study the same core course again. Most of the universities are all governmental.

You'll find that American universities were once regarded as the best are now not much more than a joke like our grade schools.

I have a professional masters degree from a great school, yet I don't recall doing much of anything to get it now that I think about it...

there hae always been degree mills and always will be that doesn't mean that the ivy league schools or other top schools are now a joke. they are at the top in global rankings and will stay there

All of the colleges I went to here in the US were pretty much the same: if you flunk the test, you get an F... No retests allowed, unless you were a great ass kisser or your professor was VERY lenient.

We took a test just about every week or two, one for each chapter of the book (that was covered). We also had a midterm, a term paper (10-30 pages), and a final exam.

2x to retake a test in every class? Jesus, must be nice.

The interesting thing now is that even Ivy League schools are offering distance education and online courses, including Harvard. Things are changing.

Ivy leagues in some academic fields are and will always remain top notch. BUT...

I'm some fields like architecture (where I graduated from the #1 ranked school in the nation), it really does not matter where you went. You will still get the same 32k a year job whether you went to Harvard GSD or Bill's Discount University.

I think we value too much what is on paper and less about what we know... I have a masters degree.. so what, there are people on this forum fresh out of high school making a lot more money than most people will ever make. Why? Because they have learned something on their own and are using it.

Frankly I think college is next to useless for most degrees.

Now I said most degrees, obviously there are some careers that
formal education is not only necessary but vital.

My degree in college won't really do too much for me in terms of
internet marketing even though my degree is in marketing.

I even took an internet marketing class that was offered in college,
I figured why not. What a joke.

As far as tests for classes in the states, it really varies depending
on the class.

I've taken classes where we had a test every single week, but
other classes I just had a mid-term and a final.

For the most part, it is usually a mid-term and final with a few
papers and a group presentation of some sort.

Yah, personally I believe it is more about who you know rather than
what you know when it comes to getting jobs.

I got my first job at age 17 paying 13 bucks an hour because I knew
the owner of the company. I mean, 13 bucks an hour for a high school
junior was pretty damn good.

You can see two people graduate from the same college, with the same
grades for the same degree and one gets 60k per year while the other
gets 30.
