Hi everybody,
I wanted to hear your opinion on this: let's say i have a website about digital marketing. So my homepage is about digital marketing and then i have my inner pages about SEO, PPC, SMM and so on.

So far, i've been sending links with anchors matching each page. For example domian.com/seo would only get seo related anchors (diversified of curse + plus naked urls and branded anchors) and so on for all inner pages.

My questions is, does it make sense to send backlinks with SEO / PPC etc related anchors to the homepage to kind of increase the relevancy of the whole website?
The thing is i'm trying to rank the inner pages and the competition is pretty stiff, so i'm looking for ways to be creative. Also noticed that sending too much inner links not getting me to where i want to be. This is why i want to focus on the homepage, while trying to rank some inner pages. Hope it makes sense :)

What do you guys think?

Either way:

SEO / PPC etc related anchors to the homepage to kind of increase the relevancy of the whole website?

Yes it helps build relevance.

I'd say branding will help more so with social profiles then pushing PBNs / Guest Posts just FYI.

This is for general terms, so not local. Been doing branded links.
The only thing i was bothered by, and this is why i brought this up, is that all anchors were built by the category of the page. Now i suspect it's not the ideal thing to do and wanted to figure out if mixing it makes sense and will benefit me. So you're saying it will be a good and logical thing to send links to my homepage with anchors like "SEO", instead of sending it to the dedicated page? and ideally it should help the inner page rank for the term "seo" (just for the sake of the example)?

First off how did you brand yourself?

and 2nd if I was to do this.

I would brand the living hell out of the brand of the website

Then if you want to push the general overall feel of your website
I'd again brand with those anchor texts on the main page.

But if you have a specific page to push then push the branded/anchor
to those pages.

If you properly brand yourself you'll bump your entire website upwards.

the system in which I created for my VAs and my clients I
called Ranking through Branding Core Lift.

Because you take the top major social sites interlink them in a way
and make sure your branded / anchor is in the url.

By doing this you'll notice say on ahrefs heat map for ranking everything
POPS upwards.

So in general you'll create a platform for all your content to sit on,
from that point you'll snipe other pages with the same to pop them up
higher with a SPECIFIC keyword.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the detailed answer, much appreciated.
I think we mean the same when we talk about branding. The issue is that i'm branded around digital marketing. So if you search for digital marketing agency, digital marketing company etc, my homepage will come up. But, when it comes to SEO, PPC or SMM, the inner pages are far behind. Mainly because the competition targets these keywords with their homepages. I guess i'm trying to find the best way to outrank them with my inner pages.
