Question About Amazon Affiliates and Conversion Rate

Hi I'm new here and I recently got into autoblogging. I have set up five autoblogs and in total have received 420 unique visitors, 2212 visits, and 16780 page views. The blogs have been up for four days. I have no idea if these numbers are any good.

With each blogpost and also on the main page I have amazon ads that are targeted towards the subject matter of the post. According to the Amazon affiliate page I have received 1479 clicks. I assume this means that links or ads that I have embedded with my amazon affiliate code has been clicked 1479 times. However I have zero sales.

What is considered a decent conversion rate of clicks into sales? The two blogs that are the most visited deal with electronics and their accessories. Are my ads not targeted enough? Or should I give it some more time before I tweak with the ads? Thanks for the help.

Amazon is pretty awful with their affiliate program. Conversions are really low (they have a 24-hour cookie) and they are net60. Some of those clicks might have bought but if they bought after 24 hours, you do not get credit. My advice is stick with something that can actually make you money (longer cookie, better payout %, etc) and avoid amazon unless you are working with e-commerce or something to that effect.

I think autoblogs are much better for adwords then trying to sell someone something. You don't want them on your site as it eats up space and focus in on ad placement and you will be fine.
 
Thanks for the advice. I'll rework my approach and place a greater focus on the ad placement and see what happens.
 
I read somewhere about 80% of people have their ip security set up high enough where they dont even get your amazon cookie when clicked. Something seems wrong with yours though. Over 1000 clicks and no sales is not normal.
 
In my experience Amazon affiliates is the worst aff program out there... I've never heard anyone making decent money on it.
 
So, skip using their cookie, set up a site that promotes an immediate buying decision, using the Amazon text link or graphic pointing to your affiliate url. Do the same on all your sites, make up for low conversion with a higher volume of exposures.
 
I like your thinking. I'm gonna go that route and test it out for a while. Thanks for all the ideas and info.
