Question About Amazon Affiliate Website Hosting

Now, I understand that it is pretty much always better to invest in a .com and hosting for any venture, but is it absolutely necessary to make money with Amazon Associates? Besides the fact that I would have a top level domain, what are the advantages of it over Blogger and Wordpress? To me, Blogger looks a little spammy when it comes to affiliate sites but Google seems to love to index them faster than Wordpress. I would like to hear all opinions. Virus1 is the resident expert on Amazon so I'm waiting for him to weigh in as well.

Also, before any flaming starts, I'm not looking to be spoonfed methods. I have that under control. I'm just wondering about the different advantages of different hosting.
