Question about 301 redirect

Hi all,

I have a question about 301 redirects. I read in a few places now that it's better to get the domain indexed with some relevant content and then 301 redirect it. Will this really make any difference? Because once you've 301 redirected it to your other site, Google will no longer see the content since it will just redirect straight to your site.

Thoughts/opinions?

It doesn't matter. Just 301 it straight away.
