[Que] Protect PDF Files from Being Shared

Hello,

I am just planning to sell PDF file on my website.

I have a question, how can I protect the PDF Files from being shared by the users?

I know I can add the Password to edit the file, Password to view the File.

What is the best strategy to protect the file?

Looking for suggestions.

Disable the copy function and watermark the pages with the buyer's (PayPal) email address.

Sorry to break it to you. But there is no way to protect the pdf once it is in the users hand.

Just make sure the users pays its worth.

Would you share something, where the pages contain your personal email address or other personal info?

Password protection won't do much, because once you sold a pdf, you need to reveal the password obviously. There's no fool proof way. You can only make it harder to copy/share, by disabling the copy function (so the content cannot be copied with a simple copy-paste) and by watermarking the pages with the buyer's personal details. If someone really wants to copy or share a pdf, he/she knows how to remove the watermark or trick the copy-protection, even if you did everything to prevent it.
