Quality vs Quantity

I've seen several guides saying that having a hundred bullshit domains with adsense and scraped content is very profitable.

I've also seen several saying that having one (or three) good, solid domains with quality content and well thought-out design is very profitable.

The obvious answer is that both statements are true. But, we have to look at time.

I can't afford to buy that many domains all at once (I'm lucky if I can buy 2 new domains per month). On the other hand, I can't sit around not making any money while I try (and try and try and try) to make a quality website that people will actually give two fucks about.

I actually started in blogging, thinking that was a foolproof source of income. I've had several blogs, and now I'm really only down to one blog that I still ignore too often because I'm caught up trying to make money, since the blog obviously hasn't taken off. ANYWAY, the point I'm trying to make is this:

Should I dedicate my time to bullshit, YACG-style sites, or something more permanent, such as a webapp? I can't starve waiting for my fortune.

Good question. Can you have both? My problem is that I spend most of my time researching my niches and then I get caught up with several new ideas. But do you really have the time to keep up with a large quantity of sites.

I think it all depends on 2 things :-
1. time
2. funds/money
Suppose i set up a few hundred domains capturing long tail traffic and earned some quck money, I'd prefer to then invest some time in building a quality website. You should try both methods and one source may be for some short term quick money and one should always have a long term revenue generation strategy.
One danger with yacg kinda site is it can anytime be banned but a quality authority kinda site would last long.
Depending on ur circumstances u'd prefer to start with one method.

Good advice. I think since I really can't afford to buy that many domains, I'll stick to (trying) to make quality sites. I mean, I constantly have "people will love this!" types of ideas. The bad thing is, I'm either usually wrong or my enthusiasm dies down quickly.

Hey bro, I just checked out your blog. So far, that is a VERY good start. You got yourself a nice little niche subject to talk about, which itself will be a major draw to your blog. The main problem I can see you're struggling with is perseverance. You might have setup the domain, built the foundation of the site, and wrote a few entries but I see that you stopped early in September, you should keep focusing on adding more quality content and then driving more traffic to your site. Good luck.

By the way, I just started learning about internet marketing yesterday and am trying to learn as much as I can to hopefully be able to start making money of my own. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

The main thing I've noticed about myself is that I start to let fear build up. I contantly want to write new entries, but I'm bad about going into a self-destructive spiral.

"What if they don't like it? What if I fail? What if I say the wrong things? Is this really worth it anyway? Maybe I should just stick with a 'real job'?"

I know this much: I can't live that way forever, and this marketing 'job' is harder than any other 'job' I've ever had. I've NEVER worked this hard for so little money. But I can tell it's starting to pay off.

Since I started trying less than two years ago, I've made ~$55 with Adsense, ~$50 with Clickbank, $63 with one of my favorite affiliate programs, and $11 from another affiliate program that I flakily promote. I should get the $63 this month, and the rest..I have to wait. Minimum payouts and all.
