Message from QuadrigaCX Board of Directors
January 31, 2019

Dear Customers,

An application for creditor protection in accordance with the Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act (CCAA) was filed today in the Nova Scotia Supreme Court to allow us the opportunity to address the significant financial issues that have affected our ability to serve our customers. The Court is being asked at a preliminary hearing on Tuesday February 5 to appoint a monitor, Ernst & Young Inc., as an independent third party to oversee these proceedings.

For the past weeks, we have worked extensively to address our liquidity issues, which include attempting to locate and secure our very significant cryptocurrency reserves held in cold wallets, and that are required to satisfy customer cryptocurrency balances on deposit, as well as sourcing a financial institution to accept the bank drafts that are to be transferred to us. Unfortunately, these efforts have not been successful. Further updates will be issued after the hearing.

HA! That's a new one. I guess it's more original than "we got hacked and lost your money." Take that, QuadrigaCX customers.

yes that's quite interesting situation. Bus factor is one as called in software development

2019 and still we're waiting for a decent DEX.

Has no-one identified the cold wallet addresses involved yet? Seems it shouldnt be that hard if you know a hot wallet.

According to his wife, the CEO died of (unexpectedly?) of Crohn's disease which btw must be a living hell to have.

And somehow, the investors never had a contingency plan that included a second or third person having access the vault keys. Brutal mistake.

Tin foil hats claim one other person in the company has access to the keys and hid them so creditors wouldn't be able to pull all the money. If so, that would be the heist of the century, assuming they could eventually dip into those addresses without getting caught. Unlikely.

RIP AND GOOD LUCK!
i dont read all but i read that someone died, its a bad think!

I question how a guy with Crohn's Disease came to the decision that going on vacation in India would be a good idea?

Like someone with severe asthma going on vacation in Kaifeng, China. Doesn't add up.

they will live a rich life now

I wonder if the authorities have revoked the passport for his wife, and co-workers.

Not your keys, not your bitcoin.
I'm sure more than half of the $190 million were just people leaving their coins in exchanges. Their daily volume was quite low.
It will be a harsh lesson to some, but a necessary one.

It's ridiculous to me that so many people left their coins on the exchange lol like why not protect them in a private wallet?

Also there's a lot of questions surrounding the validity of his death certificate...everything about this is just super shady.

Read that story a few weeks ago, I was onboard for the idea his death was legit until I read that the conclusive evidence was a death cert from Rajestarstan in India or somewhere - If you think you can't fake your death in India with a tiny fraction of $250m, pfft.. please. How coincidental that he died in India and not Canada etc
