On every picture I use the same 22 hashtags, that are the most popular in my niche. I just realized, that for one hashtag with ~170k results, my pictures show up under "popular" when you search for this hashtag.

Is it even worth it to use the other hashtags, where the pictures wont go popular? Should I search comparable hashtags, with that amount of results, where I am able to hit the popular Box? I dont really know that much about hashtags, but I guess It's better that your pictures are popular for more hashtags with lower content, then not being popular for hashtags with very much content like "fashion" for example?

Can somebody help me? Or link me to a thread or site where this is answered? Big thanks. :)

Hey, maybe target all hashtags 170k +.
If you dont make a top post for a tag after a few posts just try a different tag. When your account grows use more popular hashtags
 
Something ive noticed,make sure that even if the hashtag has 170k posts . The top posts might have over 2k-5k likes . Which in my testing make it harder to get into the top posts ,atleast if your trying to stay there.
 
You need to do more search in hashtags. Find other hashtags from your competitors shares and other shares which are trending in your niche and use them. I do it in twitter and i think it will work same for ig.
 
definetely, u should just try to see how it works.
Use popular hastags, but you should change them time to time, to see, what really works.
 
yes, it will still help even if you dont make top posts. some people will/can see you even if you get pushed down in seconds.
in that case, you can post more to get 'more seconds.' it might not be efficient, but its better than nothing.
