Hey Guys,

Hope u all have a great weekend.

I have been doing paid marketing for over 2 years now. Well-versed with Google Ads, Facebook, Analytics etc. This question has been on my mind for quite a while now. These marketing jargons always confuse me. So if anyone would kind enough to make me understand :-

1) What is Media Buying? How is it Different from Standard PPC? Are Taboola & Outbrain Media Buying Tools? If not, Can you give me popular examples?

2) In addition, If anyone has knowledge of programmatic media buying, Is it something Diff? Or just another jargon for Online Media Buying?

I think, media buying referes to buying ads in general, while ppc is a kind of advertsing

By saying that, are you implying PPC is just a part of Media Buying? Jeez, why do they have to make it soo complicated LOL!

Usually PPC refers to buying search quire based ads. Like google, bing ...

Media buying is usually display ads like banners or interstitial ads.

To make it even more confusing there is also Native that tries to look like articles on the website.

I hope that helps.

Ikr! I have worked with native ads (Taboola & Outbrain). Do you know of any media buying platforms?

I know a lot of media buyers that go direct. You go to large sites and do an insertion order for a set period of time 1 day, 1 week whatever.

There are also opportunities to do display on yahoo gemini. I had a large list of display networks. I will see if I can find it.

Oww nvr knew u could do direct aswell. Time to do some more researching.

Direct buys are often the most profitable. After you use something like yahoo gemini and you see that you are getting all your conversions from site abc.com you should always see if you can do a direct by from that site. Your profit should increase.

If there are sites that don't have an advertising info page use there whois data and reach out that way.

To tell you the truth buddy, I have no idea how media buying works. I never got the chance to work on it either. Can you recommend any good course to get started? I am experienced with PPC but a total boob when it comes to media buying.

PPC is subset of media buying.

Media buying includes buying display ads, native ads, ppc ads, fb ads and ads on other medias.

PPC simply stands for how the media buy is paid for, in this example is is paid for on click basis.
Pay Per Click.

It's all jargon and clever-sounding words, in reality, there is a simple explanation.
You can say that media buying is a process of buying traffic.
PPC is a price per click, part of media buying.

Wikipedia has a pretty good explanation of what is Media Buying.

Programmatic - means you're using a program to purchase advertising.

Thanks everyone, it finally makes sense. Can someone suggest me a good media buying course that covers all its aspects.
