I do realize that is a very basic question, but with all the retarded Google changes and as far as I have seen on G results I am completely off the chart right now and I would appreciate to see some sturdy opinion regarding this thinggy.

Q: Which one weights more in G's eyes?
.de or .com/.net (Obviously the country for which I am building the website is Germany)

Thanks in advance!

.de is the answer but you can't use whois protect, so when I make german webistes I buy .net or .com

If u want to focus your country only then .de is the best. but if u want to drive traffic globally then .com > .net > .de

Thank you for your replies.

The thing is that as far as my study goes, I have seen .com/.net weighing much more than a country specific so I was wondering if the new Google retarded update has changed something.

If you want your client and traffic from only your country then it should be .de else you might also go with the .com extension. Best of luck.

Yeah this is exactly the case, I am not interested in foreign traffic at all, only country specific. The thing that puzzled me was the fact that more than 50 % of the kws that I have analyzed are dominated by .coms .nets even if I am performing the search for that specific country using the G tool, or clean searching (having a GER IP obviously), the coms and nets still dominate the first page.

That made me wonder: are those coms and nets more relevant than .des' ? I did my homework and thoroughly analyzed each ws comparing the results such as : domain age, indexed backlinks etc. Some .des' showed up to have more age and backlinks but those were shoved on the second page... Fuck Google!

Thanks for your answer and yeah I do need luck. At the moment I am stepping back for a month or two to see how things will settle with this new algo. Want to give it some time.

If you optimize in G.de then obviously .de.

P.s: Make sure you host your website in Germany, it will help your rankings, and also get many backlinks from .de domains, preferably from authority ones.

Have a look at competitive websites for your topic. Are there any .eu/.net/.com domains ranking for your targeted KW's? Yes, no problem! No, be safe and take a .de Domain!
My Sites are all German and there are especially .eu Domains in some niches which even rank on #1!
If you have specific Question for the german market you can PM me ;)

Thanks for sharing the info. I think I will go for a .de, it makes sense. No actually I do not have any questions regarding the German market at the moment but I will keep that in mind. Thanks for helping me out deciding :)

Definately go with a .de if you want to rank locally in www.google.de

You can go with .com/.net as well, not much difference in ranking between .com/.net/.org but if you want rank locally then definitely go for the .de tld because the difference is not major but definitely helps you capture the #1 spot faster.

Thank you very much. This was my main idea also, but I got a bit puzzled by the fact that the Penguin messed up everything.

.de is the way to go. I own a private .de high PR blognetwork fyi. so if you have a legal site that needs a boost for google germany feel free to contact me.
