Hi everyone,
I’ve been trying to decide which scripting language to focus on as a beginner, and I keep seeing Python and JavaScript mentioned a lot.
From your experience:
Which one is easier to start with?
Which one is more practical for real-world tasks?
I’m mainly interested in learning scripting for automation and general online use.
Would appreciate any insights or personal recommendations.
Thanks!

Go with Python as a beginner. It's way easier to pick up with simple, readable code, and it has killer libraries for automation tasks.

For real-world stuff like scripting bots or online automation, Python's more practical and versatile right out the gate. JS is great for web dev but steeper curve for newbies.

Python is easier to start and it is more practical for automation tasks like web scraping or file management and javascript is essential for interactive web features and building browser based tool.

Python for sure. Especially you're in the blackhat world

python for automation, js if you're doing anything browser-side or quick userscripts.

both are useful, just depends on what you're actually building.

I started with Python and was a great choice I think. :) It is the 'easy' choice everyone will recommend and the logical one for bot automation as guy above says there are nearly always cool libraries for you to use. JS I took up later just out of interest having done all the python scripting and when it came to the webpages where I took the elements I always wondered what the js code was. When I learned a bit of js I did it for making my own little website in html and made a few js functions for that which was nice to get to know the syntax a bit having seen it for so long when writing stuff in python.

I think js is less intuitive than python and I don't imagine there will be useful automation libraries for it like there are for python? correct me if I am wrong. Maybe some stuff for website cloaking and things like that but not for bot making I guess? don't know much about it so might be wrong but that is the impression I get. Js is more for web stuff with python being for everything, so js I would say is more niche but if the web stuff is your niche then fine and might be much more useful.

py imo, a large active community if you run into issues and pretty much an unlimited supply of relevant courses for pretty much any direction (frameworks, automation, back-end structures, etc).
