Python: can you make money with it?

A couple days ago, I started learning Python purely with the intention of making money with it. However, I actually liked it right from the beginning, and love to learn and practice Python. Now, I'm wondering: can I make some good money with Python, and if so, how long would it approximately take me to become skilled enough to earn money with it?

Like I said, I really like learning and practicing it. I was planning on launching a new ecommerce store two days ago, but Python has completely distracted me from doing that.

Sure you can, however if you are going into it with the mind set of " this is going to make me money" then you are already doing it wrong. Come up with something that people need or that people could use to make something in their life easier, idk think like a Instagram bot or something, you can't just expect to have this program and make money with it.

You can get BILLIONARE with it. Facebook's creator is one of the richest people in the planet and he used PHP which is a bit more limited than python.

How long will it take it to master it? Years. A lot. You not only need to know the language, but programming concepts, design patterns, and much more. Then you need to actually come up with a product or service idea, build it and everything involved in managing a company/product. You won't do all of that in months, not even in a single year.

i've seen some really good bots made in python. there's also the freelance coder for hire route.
one of my jv partners had a coder on retainer and said he was paying him thousands a month to write & maintain very niche software.
you can prob start earn money with it in 6-12mo. add few years for the real big bucks assuming you can find clients/have big ideas & skill to execute it.

yes,
it will allow you to make some desktop applications, which is very important to make money here (bots, or some small tools)
also, you can make internet platforms with it as well, so with good information and some ideas (you will find much ideas here) you will make money

There are several things you can do with Python to make money. You can provide a custom bot creation service for bots created in Python, you can also build websites using Python based frameworks such as Django, Pyramid, Flask, etc. Python is an excellent skill to have in general, you can use it to write scripts to automate some of the more tedious tasks a marketer may need to do, this won't make you money, but will save you time.

Woah. Don't scare the guy. I really hate when someone points the time metric which is pretty innacurate. People are different. Some people can learn really fast(already have the programming mindset), but because they have lack of confidence/direction, they're looking for an answer like this and when they see somebody with "it takes years to learn", they crash.

Just start doing it and you'll probably find yourself learning it way faster than you actually thought. However, the best way to make use of a language program like python, is to become niche specific. So at first focus on the basics, and then choose something like web scraping.

Remember that you need to learn exactly what you need. You don't need to learn everything about python, just what you need for your project, at least at first.

Everything Google makes is python first. Yeah you can make $ with it. There are plenty of jobs for python developers, just check job boards.

I'm just being realistic. In order to get any decent money you need time. I, on the other hand, hate to give the wrong impression that it'll be a walk in the park just to have people frustrated and complaining that it's not easy nor fast. The timeline is not only from my experience, but many ither people's as well. You won't find anyone with no previos programming knowledge at all making money from a software product in a short period of time.

Once the guy knows or gets an idea of what it takes, he can make a much solid decision of wether taking this path or looking for faster alternatives.Bhe indeed needs to start small, practice here and there, but until he's ready to build a full commercial product to get revenue from (which is what he wants) a lot of time will pass. That's just how it is, I don't know what's wrong with it. It's better to know it beforehand in my opinion.
