So I have been reading (on here and via regular search) that important pages should be part of the homepage. Apparently for extra juice from links going directly to the homepage.

So I pinned 5 guides on the sidebar so they basically appear on every page of of the site, much like any menu would.

This morning one of the guides is ranking for another guides keywords and they are not even related in niche.

For example one guide is "Best Automobile Guide"
and it ranks for keywords that my "Disneyland review" guide is targeting.

The automobile guide has no mention of Disney, aside from the review being linked in the sidebar.

Funny thing is the Automobile guide is not showing up for any automobile guide KW's.

Anyone seen something like this? Did I do something wrong or Does it correct itself eventually?

Seems like you added sitewide links to the 5 guides. If your site is medium-large site, then too many new internal links may cause some side effects like you mentioned.

I would suggest to wait for a while and let it settle.

But did you intend to add sitewide links? I believe you meant to add it only to the homepage

I dont mind them being site-wide since I see many brands use them and it does not seem to hurt. The are more or less the cornerstone pieces anyway and the 5 pages I actually want visitors to see.

I have a bunch of other content, usually 1000 words or so on the site but these are 2500-5000 words with "buy" or "review" type focuses.
